Identification and Symptoms
Take-All Root Rot primarily affects warm-season grasses, such as St. Augustinegrass and Bermuda grass, which are commonly found in Houston lawns. Identifying the disease early is essential for effective intervention. Look out for the following symptoms:
Yellowing Grass
- Initially, the grass may show yellowing or chlorosis, indicating a decline in overall health.
Thinning Turf
- As the disease progresses, affected areas may experience a noticeable thinning of the turf, with patches of dead or dying grass.
Blackened Roots
- One of the key indicators is the presence of blackened, rotted roots upon close inspection.
Stunted Growth
- Infected grass may exhibit stunted growth, and the overall vigor of the lawn will decline.
